Donald, a 71-year-old from the USA, joined us for a two-week Spanish immersion experience. His goal was to improve his Spanish language skills for an extended stay in Spain.
Donald had previously taken Spanish language courses in other Spanish-speaking countries and worked as a nurse in Banyoles, Girona.
Now, with our help, he has moved to Burgos for a year. We assisted him in renting a flat, getting his visa process sorted, and settling into the local community.

On Monday morning, after our Spanish classes at home, we explored Burgos’ historic center. We began at the statue of the Cid Campeador, linked to the Reconquest, which helped Donald learn new Spanish vocabulary.

We started at Sad Hill, the famous filming location from “The Good, the Bad and the Ugly,” where Donald practiced describing the landscape in Spanish.
Also, visit Santo Domingo de Silos, where Donald’s Spanish skills were put to the test as we discussed the Romanesque cloister and listened to Gregorian chants.
After a hearty lunch, we continued to the stunning Yecla Gorge and the picturesque village of Covarrubias.
