Flamenco, a vibrant art form originating from Andalusia in southern Spain, has a long-standing connection with Barcelona. This cultural treasure made its way to the city in the late 19th century when artists from Andalusia began sharing their music, dance, and spirit.
Carmen Amaya, one of the most iconic flamenco dancers of all time, further cemented Barcelona’s legacy as a hub for flamenco. Her passionate performances captivated audiences worldwide and left an indelible mark on the city’s flamenco tradition.
Today, Barcelona is home to some of the finest tablaos, where you can witness authentic flamenco performances that blend tradition with modern flair. A new generation of flamenco artists is contributing to the unique style in the Catalan region, making Barcelona an integral part of the national flamenco scene.
